Party Wall Agreement

When building a loft conversion in all but detached properties, it is necessary to obtain a party wall agreement.  A minimum of two months notice must be served on the owners of the adjacent properties of the intention to carry out works that directly or indirectly apportion weight on to the party walls.  When we send out a customers detailed construction drawing we also send the appropriate party wall forms.  It is the customers duty to carry out this procedure but we will give any guidance required.   In most cases the agreement merely involves the goodwill completion of a form on a friendly basis but occasionally neighbours will want the full documentation completed involving an independent architect or surveyor to prepare a schedule of conditions, this could involve you in additional expense.
