A new government policy document has been proposed saying that councils should approve all building projects unless there is a strong reason to refuse them. This will spark the biggest change in planning law for more than 50 years and will dramatically simplify the planning system by cutting 1000 pages of policy to just 52. Plannng minister Greg Clarke states “We need a simpler, swifter system that is easier to understand and where you dont need to pay for a lawyer to navigate your way around. That’s why we promised reform to make planning easier to understand and easier to use for everyone“. Greg Clarke is now encouraging the thoughts of councils, communities and businesses on the draft framework and hopfully we will see a quicker process in place in the near future.
