A loft conversion is the best way to add value to your home


A recent survey has shown that a loft conversion is the most cost effective way to gain extra living space whether it be an extra bedroom, playroom or office, it could add up to £20,000 to the value of a home depending on the area.  An advantage is that most of the work can be done from the outside via scaffolding so you can still live at home while the work is being done.  The average loft conversion can take approximately 6-8 weeks from start to finish ready for decorating.  Most loft conversions are considered to be permitted development not requiring planning permission but you should check with your local authority whether permitted development rights apply, the planning process takes approximately 6-8 weeks.  Building regulations approval is also required for a loft conversion.
